Shipping Information

If you're not within driving distance of Medford Oregon, we can ship your 8 week old puppy via Alaska Airlines or Delta to any U.S. airport served by Alaska Airlines. or Delta. The shipping cost will depend on where you are located. (This shipping cost includes the air travel, a Southern Oregon Miniature Dachshund Kennel, provided FAA-approved travel kennel, the required doctor's examination certificate and handling).

With Alaska Airlines, or Delta your puppy will be available at the Airlines counter at the destination airport approximately 30 minutes after the flight arrives.

Requirements to Ship

Animals must be at least 8 weeks of age.
Shipping kennel or cage must meet standards for size, ventilation, strength and design. Animals must have enough room to stand up and turn around. Kennels must be equipped with one food and water cup. Kennels must be marked with shipper's name, address and phone number and pick-up person's name, address and phone number (if different from shipper), Live Animal Stickers should be applied to the kennel and the last time fed and watered indicated. Place newspaper or absorbent material on the bottom of the crate.
Animal may not be exposed to temperatures of less than 45 degrees Fahrenheit unless there is an acclimation statement by a Veterinarian.
Health Certificate must be issued by a licensed Veterinarian and be no more than 10 days old.
Animals may not be brought to the airline more than 4 hours before a flight.
Animals less than 16 weeks of age must be offered food and water if transit is more than 12 hours. Older animals must have food at least every 24 hours and water at least every 12 hours. Many airlines will not ship animals on flights over 12 hours. Check with your airline cargo department regarding long flights.
Animals over 16 weeks must have rabies shots current.

Things to Consider

If shipping international (including Hawaii) check the quarantine laws.
Do not give your pet solid food in the six hours before the flight.
Do not give your pet sedation without your veterinarians approval.
Try to schedule a non-stop flight and avoid heavy travel times.
If you are flying with your pet, be sure to tell the flight attendant or pilot.
Place a familiar blanket, or your pets favorite toy in the kennel.
Most airlines now charge a fee to take pets in the cabin of the plane. You must make a reservation for your pet and it must fit in a carrier under the seat. Currently fees for animals range between $50-$100 each way. Check with your airline for prices.

Transporting Live Animals as Air Freight

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air provide transportation for live animals as Animal Express. Dogs and other animals (subject to approval) are accepted for transportation.

We comply with U.S. Department of Agriculture and International Air Transport Association regulations for the humane treatment and transportation of animals. All animals are transported in a pressurized and temperature controlled aircraft compartment.

The following detail is required when booking:

Shipper and consignee name, address and phone contact.
Length, width and height dimensions of the kennel.

The non-collapsible kennel:

Must be secured with nuts, bolts and a metal grated door.
Allow the animal to standup (head erect and not touching the top), lie down, turn around in a normal, comfortable position.
A food and water dish is to be clipped inside of the door.
The container must be clean and leak-proof, with absorbent bedding made of material that is safe and non-toxic to the animal.
May not exceed 40 inches in length x 27 inches wide x 30 inches high.
(Kennel sizes 400 and 500 are accepted as an exception to the size limitations)

The following regulations apply:

Dogs must be at least eight weeks of age and weaned.
The shipper shall provide applicable health declarations and permits required by authorities of countries of export, transshipment import.
Food and water must be offered within 4 hours of flight departure.
No more than one live dog, 6 months of age or older, may be transported in the same kennel.
No more than one live puppy, 8 weeks to 6 months of age, and weighing over 20 lbs, may be transported in the same kennel.
No more than two live puppies, 8 weeks to 6 months of age, that are of comparable size, and weighing 20 lbs or less each, may be transported in the same kennel.

Live animals cannot be shipped as Animal Express to Mexico on Alaska Airlines or to Canada on Horizon Air. Animal Express shipments are transported Airport to Airport service only (Courier pickup / delivery service is not available).

Live animal reservations are accepted in advance at a minimum 24 hours, maximum 20 days for online travel and 7 days for interline domestic or international travel. Live Animal bookings are accepted Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Animals traveling as cargo must have a health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian.

We ship Alaskan airline to most western states west of Denver, and some Eastern states at major airports. There is a flat rate of $295.00 to western states, for eastern states, including Alaska.
